Truly, to whom brain is given, sense is expected. According to Carl Jung, ‘the pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.’
Before I proceed, the icing on the cake of this episode of my writing is to commend the people of Osun State for seeing the swirling rumors of Governor Adeleke’s defection and the associated narratives of federal coercion for what they are: “desperate attempts to rewrite political realities.” They remain calm and discerning, ready to embrace leadership that genuinely prioritizes their welfare and the progress of the state.
In the political landscape of Osun State, rumors and propaganda have become tools wielded by desperate actors aiming to distort the truth. The recent circulating narrative centers on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s alleged defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a supposed orchestrated pressure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to coax the governor into joining the ruling party.
The people of Osun, known for their astuteness, see through these unfounded allegations. Contrary to some of Adeleke’s supporters’ claims, the false accusations that President Tinubu is tormenting Governor Adeleke—tampering with his brother’s business and withholding local government allocations to force his hand into APC—are entirely unfounded. It is, in fact, Governor Adeleke himself, his Siblings, and their close allies who have been actively seeking the President’s indulgence through some channels to facilitate their entry into the APC fold, an effort motivated primarily as a calculated move ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the State.
This maneuvering, however, has been marred by a lack of respect for the APC’s leadership within Osun State. Rather than engaging state stakeholders in good faith, Adeleke’s camp has bypassed State and local party structures, pursuing federal influence based solely on their self-interests rather than genuine political alignment. Such conduct underscores the desperation of a political figure whose party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lost its grip and relevance in Osun’s evolving political dynamics.
The political landscape has shifted dramatically for Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State. They now find themselves politically weakened, isolated, and politically adrift. The very power structures that once supported their rise are no longer viable and not with them again, promoting him and his supporters in the State to manufacture unfounded narratives suggesting that President Tinubu is the one begging or pressuring him to defect. This narrative is not only inaccurate but also undermine the dignity of the political process.
Indeed, the PDP’s influence in Osun has waned significantly, leaving Governor Adeleke politically isolated—essentially a political orphan without the backing that once propelled him. The shifting allegiances and loss of support have led to attempts at spinning that unrealistic propaganda against Mr President that he is the one who is begging and exerting pressure on Gov. Adeleke. This narrative is a complete misrepresentation of the facts and entirely untrue.
On the other hand, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State remains strong and well-led under the stewardship of Alh. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, who continues to serve as a visionary leader, and his effective steadfast role as gatekeeper of the party’s interests. His leadership has helped maintain unity and discipline within the APC, laying a strong foundation for the party’s future success in the state. Under his watch the party remains poised for a robust comeback in 2026.
Looking ahead, there is growing optimism surrounding Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, who is poised to take over the reins of Osun State as Executive Governor by November 27th 2026. The people of Osun see in him a leader who embodies hope, dedication, and a commitment to harnessing the state’s resources effectively.
This stands in stark contrast to the widespread dissatisfaction with the current Adeleke’s administration, which many perceive as mismanaging the state’s resources. Public services are reportedly in decline, public schools suffer from a lack of teachers, health facilities are understaffed, Agriculture is stagnant, and there is an absence of effective economic policies. The administration’s focus on substandard road projects and what many describe as frivolous expenditures that offer no lasting benefit has left people yearning for real progress and sustainable development.
Osun people are watching keenly, with clear eyes and steady resolve, as political actors play their games. They seek leadership that values accountability, development, and true service. The cold reality is that the APC, with the candidacy of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), offers a credible alternative to the failing governance of the current PDP-led administration.
In sum, the people of Osun are alert and discerning. They reject the baseless propaganda against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the political gamesmanship surrounding Governor Adeleke’s purported defection. The political future of Osun lies in unity, transparent leadership, and accountable governance, values that the APC leadership under Oyetola, and the candidacy of Oyebamiji striving to uphold.
