Over 22,000 residents across the Osun West Senatorial District of Osun State have benefitted from the annual food distribution programme of the Oluwaseun People’s Foundation, a humanitarian initiative founded by a philanthropist from Ikire in Irewole local government, Pastor Oluwaseun Basil Alabi.

The outreach, carried out during the Christmas and New Year festivities, targeted the less privileged, the elderly, widows, and persons with special needs across the ten local government areas within Osun West Senatorial district. Various food items were distributed to bring relief to beneficiaries amid the prevailing economic stagnant.

Speaking with journalists at one of the distribution centres, the Deputy Coordinator of the Foundation, Comrade Salensile Muideen, reaffirmed the founder’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. He noted that the food bank initiative has become an annual tradition of the Foundation and would be sustained in the years ahead.

“We commenced the distribution in Iwo and Ayedire Local Government Areas before moving to Ede North and Ede South on different days. After covering Irewole, Isokan, and Ayedaade Federal Constituency, the team proceeded to other local government areas across Osun West. This is not the first time, and by God’s grace, it will not be the last,” Salensile stated.

“These are very difficult times in Nigeria, especially in Osun State where many people are struggling to survive. Seeing someone who holds no political office give this much speaks volumes about his compassion and generosity,” he added.

In his address, the Secretary of the Foundation, Mr Adelowo Emmanuel, expressed appreciation to the beneficiaries for their orderly conduct and cooperation throughout the exercise. He reiterated the Foundation’s guiding principles, which emphasize humanitarian development and setting positive examples for future generations.

“We understand that no amount of food can completely meet all human needs. However, at a time when food prices are extremely high, we are glad to be able to offer some relief. Each package contains items such as rice, garri, noodles, and other essentials, with the aim of easing the burden on vulnerable households,” Mr Adelowo Emmanuel said.

He also expressed gratitude to Pastor Oluwaseun Basil Alabi for providing the resources and leadership that enabled the Foundation to carry out the outreach successfully.

In separate remarks, several beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent expressed heartfelt appreciation for the food support. They offered prayers for Pastor Oluwaseun Basil Alabi, asking God to bless and sustain him as he continues to touch lives through his philanthropic efforts.
