As the current administration in Osun State marks three years in office, Hon. Amb Olabode Oluwatobi Divine has issued a scathing assessment of its performance, describing the period as marked by neglect, poor planning, and failure to deliver on critical sectors.

Speaking on the state of the economy, Hon. Divine noted that there is no clear direction, with businesses struggling to survive and investors discouraged from committing to projects. He said that citizens face rising living costs, unemployment, and limited economic opportunities, a situation he attributed to the government’s lack of focus and planning.

The agricultural sector, he added, has been left largely stagnant. Farmers have received no meaningful support or intervention, and no programs have been initiated to increase productivity, ensure food security, or create jobs for the state’s growing youth population.

Education, a sector critical to the state’s long-term development, has also suffered. Hon. Divine highlighted that not a single teacher has been employed since the Governor assumed office, while schools continue to operate with inadequate infrastructure, insufficient learning materials, and no programs to improve quality or student outcomes.

He further criticized the administration’s handling of traditional institutions, noting that three Obas were removed, creating tensions in affected communities and weakening the cultural fabric of the state.

Civil service stability has been undermined as well. Teachers and health workers have been dismissed, worsening unemployment and eroding the delivery of essential public services.

On human capital development, Hon. Divine observed the absence of sustained youth empowerment programs, vocational training, or professional development initiatives, calling it a demonstration of the administration’s lack of long-term vision.

Security, he said, remains inadequate. Despite growing concerns, the government has not provided even a single new patrol vehicle to support security agencies, leaving communities exposed to crime and insecurity.

Hon. Divine also criticized the Governor’s frequent foreign trips, describing them as unproductive and of no tangible benefit to the state, diverting attention from urgent local challenges.

In conclusion, he stated that on all major indicators—including the economy, agriculture, education, human development, traditional institutions, civil service, and security—the administration scores very low. He called for focused, committed, and people-centered leadership to restore progress, stability, and confidence in Osun State.
