In a bid to enhance the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 8th, 2026 governorship elections, youths leaders of the party across the 10 local governments of the Osun West Senatorial District has called on leaders of the party in Osun and at the National level to zone the party’s ticket to the zone.
Addressing a press conference today at the senatorial headquarters in Iwo, the youth leaders cited equity, fairness, justice and the zone’s unmatched loyalty and electoral victories to the party in previous elections.
The text reads in part: “With the spirit of solidarism and collectivism, we, the Osun West Youths, gather here today with a united voice that strongly echoes a clarion call for fairness, equity, and justice in our political journey. This is to reminisce that since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy, our distinct district, Osun West, has consistently stood tall, contributing immensely to the progress, development, and growth of our great state and party, from the time of AD to its metamorphosis into the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
“Within the realm of our democratic rights, we make our humble demand, which seeks the zoning of the 2026 governorship ticket to Osun West. This is not a plea borne out of entitlement or disrespect for other esteemed leaders from other zones and party leadership, but a call for recognition of our loyalty, unmatched contributions to our party’s electoral successes in recent times, perseverance, standing with the principles of the progressive party, and unwavering commitment to the APC.”
“Osun West continues to play a significant role in every election conducted in Osun State; it has been a bedrock of support for our party, standing firm through thick and thin at all times, irrespective of challenges or situations. Giving us this opportunity to reap the fruits of our dedication, commitment, continuous demonstration of loyalty, and perseverance, despite not being considered in the past, will be a significant moment for our party this time around and will serve as a cogent reason for youths to reciprocate with more efforts, energy, and work. We are confident that if our senatorial district gets the ticket if our party in 2026, success is guaranteed at the polls as we parade the most credible and qualified aspirants with proven record of competence, popularity and acceptability. Zoning the ticket to our district is more than just political representation. It’s about affirming our place in the narrative of Osun State’s development and availing us a rare opportunity to write our own history in the era of Osun State’s development, to the best taste of its indigeneity.”
The youth leaders led by Comrade Imran Mojeed, the Osun West Senatorial Youth Leader urged leaders of the party to consider aspirants from the zone as flag bearer in the 2026 elections adding that the zone parades the best hands to reclaim Osun.
“We respectfully appeal to our distinguished leaders at various levels, most especially at the state level, where we have National Leader of our great party, who is currently the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Alhaji Abdulkareem Adebisi Akande, His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and the incumbent National Secretary of the party; Dr. Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the State Chairman, Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, and other notable figures who are part of the party’s decision-makers. We also appeal to the federal level, where we have our quintessential father and national leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other prominent stakeholders, to consider our passionate plea for the sixth time. Our belief in the principles of fairness and rotational leadership for an even distribution of power is very strong and respected. It’s Osun West’s turn, and we are ready and prepared to deliver leadership that will propel our state forward.”
Prominent figures from the senatorial zone whom have signified interest in flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress in 2026 include, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the MD/CEO National Inland Waterways Authority from Irewole Local Government, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, from Ayedaade LG, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Ayedire LG and Senator Mudasiru Hussain from Ejigbo Local Government.
