It was carnival-like as residents of Ilesa West and Ilesa East on Thursday took to major streets to welcome members of AMBO Movement led by the leading gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The AMBO Movement has been consulting the leaders and members of the party in actualisation of the gubernatorial aspiration of the former commissioner for finance in the state, Oyebamiji.
This is even as the leaders and members of the party declared their unflinching support and solidarity for Oyebamiji, saying his emergence at the party’s primary and main governorship election is a walk-over.
The ecstatic residents, particularly leaders and members of the party in the town, who trooped out enmasse from Oke-Omiru to Ereja Square and Ita-balogun were singing and chanting solidarity songs to receive Oyebamiji and his entourage into their domains.
Addressing leaders and members of the party intermittently, the APC overall leader in Ijesa-South, Chief Kunle Odeyemi; Chairman APC Leaders’ Forum, Hon. Gboyega Ajeleti; immediate past Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye; Executive Director, Federal Housing Authority, Engr. Remi Omowaiye; former lawmakers, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, Hon. Wale Adedoyin, Hon. Fafowora Folarin, former Managing Director, Osun State Investment Company Limited, OSICOL, Dr. Tunde Faleye, APC Chairman, Ilesa-East, Hon. Fowowe Akinola and APC leader in Ilesa East, Deacon Dayo Abimbola described Oyebamiji as a competent professional, expressing confidence in the capacity of Oyebamiji to fly the party flag come 2026.
According to Chief Odeyemi, it is inspiring that the aspirants in the party are preparing members of the party ahead of the governorship election in the State and it is an attestation that the party is ever ready to return to government next year.
Also, former Speaker Timothy Owoeye in his remarks said: “Oyebamiji remains the right gubernatorial aspirant that has all it takes to take our party to the promised land and only aspirant to wrestle power from the incumbent Governor come 2026.”
Ayeni said: “We are not just following Oyebamiji for following sake, we have seen in him the competence, passion and wherewithal to lead Osun and to lead our party to victory.”
In his words, Omowaiye said: “Oyebamiji’s impeccable trackrecords and unmatchable imprints supercede others and he remains the most popular choice of the party leaders and members in the progressive party today. Although there are many aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket, Oyebamiji stands tall. Going by the quality aspirants that are contesting in our party that are far better than the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, it is also in public domain that Oyebamiji has proven trackrecords and integrity to lead us to victory”
Faleye said: ” Oyebamiji’s emergence is a walk-over and this can be attested to by what has been happening since he commenced the consultation tours. He is indeed an aspirant that everybody realises he is going to win. We have in him, a man of competence, capacity, integrity, dignity, compassion and exposure to lead us to victory come 2026.”
In his remarks, Oyebamiji expressed profound gratitude to the leaders and members of the party most significantly the residents of Ilesa who trooped out enmasse to welcome him and his entourage.
The leading gubernatorial aspirant of the Nigeria’s ruling party pledged to prioritize provision of quality and quantitative education, agriculture, commerce, industry, tourism and mining in Ijesaland in particular and Osun state in general if elected Governor come 2026.
Oyebamiji added: “The reception here is massive and I am highly impressed and I am grateful to our people here. This is exceptionally fantastic and from this we can be rest assured that our party, APC, is the party to beat come 2026.
“Commerce is one of the major things in Ijesaland and industry is known here and we are going to industrialize the environment. We are going to promote commerce and ensure that we give support to farming which Ijesa people are known. As we all know that Ijesa people are known for pounded yam. We are going to support farming to encourage our people and empower our young ones adequately and sufficiently. We will also invest massively in tourism too as we all know that our people are known for this in this land. With this particularly what is being experienced today, I strongly believe that we are going places. Coming August 8, 2026, we are sure that APC is going to carry the day by God’s grace”, Oyebamiji said.
