A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Abdulrasheed Muideen, has lambasted Governor Ademola Adeleke over the alleged involvement of operatives of the Amotekun Corps in the recent Akinlalu killings, describing his administration as “a total failure.”
Muideen, popularly known as Romeo, was reacting to the arrest of about 25 Amotekun operatives by the Nigerian Police in connection with the killings in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government Area.
In a statement on Friday, the APC stalwart accused Governor Adeleke of losing control of governance in the state, adding that the governor’s reliance on Amotekun was a reflection of his desperation and disconnect from the people.
“Governor Adeleke’s poor leadership and bad governance have made him lose touch with the people,” he said. “Despite the huge funds coming to Osun under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Adeleke has only succeeded in giving the people substandard roads, poor infrastructure, inadequate health facilities, and a collapsed local government system.”
The Osogbo-born politician expressed confidence that the APC would defeat Governor Adeleke in the 2026 governorship election, asserting that the governor has lost the support base that brought him to power.
“He has lost all those who supported him to become governor we will beat him silly,” Muideen declared. “The only unique thing about Governor Adeleke is his dancing skills, which add nothing to the development of Osun State.”
Reports indicate that about 20 operatives of the Amotekun Corps were arrested on Wednesday by a police squad deployed from Abuja in connection with the Akinlalu killings.
The team reportedly stormed the Amotekun Operational Base at Oke-Fia in Osogbo and the Ife Central Division in Ile-Ife, where several operatives were apprehended and the premises sealed off.
Tension has gripped Akinlalu following allegations that operatives invaded the community, shooting sporadically and killing several residents, including children and young graduates.
