The Iragbiji Development Association (IDA), led by its Chairman, Dr. Lateef Raheem, held a press briefing today at Iragbiji Town Hall to unveil the lineup of activities for the 2024 Iragbiji Day Annual Celebration.

Addressing members of the press, Dr. Raheem who was represented by Dr. Jimoh Olorede highlighted the week-long programme designed to foster unity, celebrate the town’s heritage, and recognize outstanding contributions of community members.

The celebration officially began with this press briefing, setting the stage for a series of events designed to engage and inspire Iragbiji indigenes and their well-wishers.

He announced that on Sunday, November 10, members of the IDA Planning Committee, led by Mr. Remi Agboola, will appear on the OSBC Radio programme Eroya to further promote this year’s celebration. An interdenominational church service will follow in Iragbiji, symbolizing the community’s commitment to placing God first in their endeavors.

The festivities continue on Monday, November 11, with a town-wide environmental sanitation exercise, reflecting the community’s dedication to public health and cleanliness. “Every indigene, young and old, is encouraged to participate,” said Dr. Raheem.

Tuesday, November 12, will feature the “Walk to Live” fitness initiative, led by His Royal Majesty, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV. This event aims to promote health, fitness, and civic engagement ahead of the grand celebration.

On Wednesday, November 13, the final match of a football tournament will be held at Oke-Iragbiji Grammar School, showcasing the town’s passion for sports and community bonding.

Thursday, November 14, will see His Majesty Oba Olabomi bestowing royal blessings on members of the IDA, guests, and the community.

Dr. Raheem emphasized the symbolic importance of this event in fostering unity and spiritual grace for all who attend.

Friday, November 15, will feature a Juma’at prayer service, followed by the Iragbiji Honours and Awards Ceremony at Muraina Oyelami Hall.

This prestigious event, led by a committee chaired by Otunba Abdur-Wahab Adewoyin, will celebrate the accomplishments of distinguished indigenes, including professors, scholars, community leaders, and successful entrepreneurs.

The grand finale of the 33rd Iragbiji Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. His Royal Majesty Oba Olabomi will serve as the Royal Host, while His Excellency, former Osun State Governor and current Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, will act as Principal Host.

The Chairman of the Day will be Alhaji Bola Oyebode, Chairman and CEO of Magnum Trust Insurance. The event promises to bring together government officials, political leaders, business magnates, and other esteemed guests.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Raheem expressed deep appreciation to Oba Olabomi, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, IDA members, the Planning Committee, and all individuals contributing to the progress and success of Iragbiji. “I am deeply grateful for everyone’s efforts and dedication to making this year’s celebration exceptional,” he stated, before opening the floor to questions from the press.
