The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNNAB) on July 15th, 2024, welcomed its new Pro-Chancellor, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP), FCIPM, FNIM, MNIPR, FAFUED, FOSCOTECH, Odundun IV, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, to the university campus.

Oba Olabomi, accompanied by his entourage, was received by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olusola Kehinde and other members of the University Management. Oba Olabomi later inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by the Man O’ War at the Senate building. The Pro-Chancellor and his entourage then proceeded to the chamber for an interactive session with faculty and staff members. Following introductions to the University’s management team, Oba Olabomi led the VC and members of the 8th governing council to the council chamber for a brief introductory meeting.

In his remarks, Professor Kehinde, the University’s Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude to have Oba Olabomi as the new Pro-Chancellor, praying for divine guidance to take the university to greater heights. He emphasized the fostering of a great relationship between FUNNAB and Iragbiji land, stating, “This university has become a part of Iragbiji land, and Iragbiji land has become a part of FUNNAB.”

During the campus tour, Oba Olabomi commended the university’s impressive dam, which supplies water to the campus and supports irrigation farming. He encouraged the university to nurture this asset and explore aqua-cultural activities. At the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD), a sub-set of FUNNAB, he urged the management to introduce more beneficial courses relevant to agriculture and to also improve infrastructural amenities.

The Council members led by the Pro-Chancellor later commenced on series of meetings which ended in the evening.
