A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and Executive Director of Projects Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Abuja, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye has hailed the defection of Omooba Dotun Babayemi, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun and other leaders to the APC from the PDP, describing the development as a good omen for the progressive party as it gravitates towards the 2026 governorship election.

Babayemi, a 2022 governorship aspirant in the PDP and Oyedokun, former National Deputy Chairman (South) and member of the PDP Board of Trustees, would alongside their supporters on Friday formally join the APC in a grand ceremony billed to be held at the party’s state secretariat at Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.

In a press statement issued by the former Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state, Omowaiye saluted the patriotism, decency and resolve of the former PDP bigwigs to team up with the party to deliver the state from the shackles of those he described as political charlatans and wicked administrators who despite over N300billion revenue accrued to them in 16 months have remained irresponsible with the resources and left the people to suffer undue hardship.

Omowaiye equally used the occasion to appeal to the people of Osun to continue to support the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the President is working assiduously to bring relief and economic prosperity to the country.

The statement reads in part, “The defection of these statesmen is a confirmation of the resentment held towards the uninspiring government of Senator Ademola Adeleke by quality citizens and leaders of thoughts in the state. These tested politicians have chosen to be honourable despite financial attraction and pecuniary gains their continued stay in the PDP would have fetched them.

They have chosen to identify with the people of the state who have been economically choked by the economic mismanagement and wanton corruption going on under the Administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Specifically, I thank them for their unceasing commitment to the memory of our late Kinsman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo who used his lifetime to fight for justice, accountability and transparency.”
